Coffee and Music
I'm now officially on holidays and as usual the music I'll be playing on the blog will have that extra bite, like this track by the fantastic Laura Marling, accompanied by Mumford & Sons and the Dharohar Project. I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks, Rachel. I only got into Marling after I listened to a ten-track CD that came with The Observer a couple of months ago. I was blown away by her voice (very strong) and her arrangements. However, this track, Devil's Spoke, has Bob Dylan's It's ALl Right Ma, I'm Only Bleeding, written all over it.
I'm planning to buy the three CDs (is it three? I'm not sure) she's put out but in the ten tracks I heard on that freebie, I heard Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Carol King and Bob, of course. I'm hoping to "GET" her, as opposed to her influences, if you catch my drift.
Must say I didn't know any Laura Marling - until now. As for the East/West collaboration, it reminded me of Sachal Studios (they did an enchanting "Take 5").
Oh we love Laura Marling! One of my daughter's favourites too... so glad she likes this and not One Direction or something...
