Song for a Summer Sunday Morning (Sultanas de Merkaillo by Ojos de Brujo)

I'm getting into a Spanish mood already. Enjoy your Sunday.

  1. I’m SO pleased to have been able to turn the page on the calendar to a new month where there are far fewer appointment squiggles in the boxes next to the days than there were last month! It means I have lots more time to sit back and read all my favourite blogs more regularly.

Loving your Sunday morning musical choices, as always – thank you so much for sharing those even as you drive through Spain! I particularly loved your Road Songs post, Mr. Cuban! It immediately made me think of all the road trips we’ve taken and how music has played such a large part in evoking memories of those adventures. I’m enchanted by the accomplished way in which you draw parallels between music and the sound and movement of car and engine. Brilliant! You never fail to open my mind to delightful new trains of thought.

Gosh, a whole month before we have you back in Blogland! But, hey, I hope you’re having the most wonderful time in Spain (my most favourite of European countries) and I’m so looking forward to hearing all about your trip…

  2. I have this song! One of the great songs brought to me by my Songlines subscription. I hadn't seen the video though so this is a treat. You have no idea how much I look forward to my weekly Sunday song fix. :)

  3. I love ojos de brujo, here is a little about the band: The children of the street rumba and polyglot flamenco celebrate the freedom and sensuality of music and the wealth of contagious rhythm. This is the catharsis of flamenco and the joy of sonic experimentation: nomadic, racially-mixed music crossing the streets of cities of the world like a ship full of lunatics, communicating, creating, and celebrating.

Ant the song you chosen is excelent, I love that one, lately I am listen to lots of spanish music, probably is due to my sister that is currently living in spain.

  8. Thank you all for your kind comments.

No, no, I'm not in Spain yet, I'm just easing myself into a Spanish mood. But I'm not in front of my computer very often these days either. Yesterday we went to Margate for the day and had a nice time although there was a rowdy crowd which we avoided. My daughter had the chance to row in his dinghy and we had a nice stroll along the seafront.

    Many thanks for your feedback.

    Greetings from London.

  9. Is Spanish music always so cheerful and full of life, CiL? Or is it that you want a happy sound for your Sunday morning offerings?

Anywhere a guitar is playing, it will draw my ears. Anywhere a pretty girl is dancing, it will draw my eyes. This piece has both, so it definitely is a winner.

Thank you, for another pleasant interlude.

  14. This is a very bright song and reminded me of my climbing holiday in Spain in August last year. For many reasons it was the best holiday I ever had, so now I'm totally in love with Spain too.

    Have a great holiday

  17. Good vibrations this song Cuban.

    Salva :)
