Hi Cuban, I am just loving these musical introductions...really a tutorial...that you're giving me. I enjoyed Tevin Campbells's "Can we talk"...which did take me back in time because of the R & B style...it reminded me of when I worked with a small group of singers (in a correctional facility). I just loved their energy and commitment to youthful creative expression. I remember one group, wrote a rap for me called, "Knowledge," as a thank you. I think they taught me more about life than I ever taught them in my Life Skills class. Thanks for sharing.
sunday mornin's, the Hal Jackson Show . . . you've hit it on the nose. we start our sundays with Gospel, followed by R&B on the house that Hal built on WBLS.FM - Yes!
now that was Bethesda Fountain in Central Park, we're on our way there later. it's cloudy, like in the video, so, it may rain/drizzle. however, if'n it don't, noon will bring the Sunday Salsa Show right off the Fountain: rumberos smackin' the skins to plena, bomba -n- guguanco . . .
later, its Jonathan Schwartz on NPR with the Sinatra Show . . . radio on the Great Lawn.
thank you Cuban you've captured the feel wonderfully. a great way to start a sunday = smooth jam.
Listening to this really does take me back - to a time of simple romance before reality changed the soundtrack :) What happened to TCampbell anyway? And 3T - do you remember Michael Jackson's little nephews? Lovely post as always, Shai
Beautiful voice..now I'm drifting towards the Bethesda Fountain too..just a lifetime spent there...Groovin' on a Sunday Afternoon..I feel young again..thanks to you and to bare-eyed...
same for me, dear Cuban, my sunday is over but love the song all the same!
Are you heading to northern Spain ? the heat is...nearly unbearable in Andalucia but it's also nice to be slower than as usual!
I wanted to say a big thank you for all your kind and encouraging words on my new blog Un mariage au soleil. Como decimos aqui, pues cuando vienes por aqui, te debo una (cerveza claro!)y mas de una... hasta luego!!
Many thanks for your kind comments. I haven't been around lately because I am on holidays and out and about a lot. We're staying in London and around England in the next few weeks to then, depart to Spain, so yes, my castle, it's northern Spain this time.
bare-eyed sun, I dig you, man, whenever I can I listen to East Village Radio, an internet New York-based radio station (see the panel on the right-hand side) and it's fab.
Many thanks to you all for your lovely feedback. This song brings back many happy memories of my younger self with a similar haircut back in the day.
I hope you're enjoying your holidays (those who are on holidays) and your week.
Smoooooth! It's Wednesday and I'm just getting around to listening to this great Sunday music selection. Have missed you at Willow Manor, my friend. Hope you and yours are enjoying your time away! :)
It's a drizzling Wednesday evening here, but Maureen and I have been dancing on the patio to this lovely smooth song. The long-necked summer moths have joined in, dancing in the light from our kitchen. Bliss!
Hello! My Sunday is almost over.. I hope you are enjoying yours :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!

Ahhh, and by the way, the opening sentence was a loan from Blackstreet. Just another reminder of good ol', groovy R&B.
