"And if my thought-dreams could be seen/They’d probably put my head in a guillotine/But it’s alright, Ma, it’s life, and life only" - "It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" by Bob Dylan
Interesting that Romero was designated a "Servant of God"..still waiting to be elevated from martyr to sainthood. I do like Blades..so many different personas!Thank you.I'm posting about saintdhood also, later today..coincidence..
I love Ruben Blades. His entire life is inspiring. I will never forget an interview I had with him years ago when I asked him how he managed to get several degrees, run for president of Panama and still managage to maintain his position as one of salsa's most socially and politically aware singers. He simply said that " I didn't come from nothing, I came from Panama and I was always shown that I was important." A little further down from Panama, my post for this hot summer day is some Cape Verdean funana courtesy of Lura.
The salsa my grandpa listens to has a slightly different feel to it. This seemed a little more bright
Great song and music...thanks...and greetings from the Edinburgh fringe festival...such great talent here..saw some wonderful physical theatre yesterday with live flamenco guitar about the life of Lola Montez...
Well it's Monday now, but it's a holiday - so song for Sunday works well! ;-)
Hola Cubano! Cuánto tiempo! Muy buena elección musical, como siempre!
Siempre estoy buscando America! Gracias!!!!!!
Many thanks for your kind comments. I am counting down the days until we leav for Spain. And in the meantime enjoying (avert your gaze now if you support Man U) Chelsea's victory against that other team from the village of Manchester. No, not the one with the light blue kit, the other one, the one run by the Scot. And of course, how to miss (avert your gaze, now if you're a Red Sox supporter) the Yankees's customary, seasonal sweep of their bitter rivals. I am having a fab holiday.Greetings from London.
Wow, salsa with a moral theme! Interesting. I love how you’ve come up with all this fine entertainment for us while you are on vacation. Good to hear that you are enjoying it. My kids are Chelsea fans too. Have a lovely time in Spain.
Love the salsa....there is a joke in US about how "everyone loves to say salsa" in this case, SO true. Hope you are well and looking forward to your trip!
