What can one say after this? A few days ago I heard on the radio that when recording this song, the girl was instructed to sing whatever she thought would fit with the music, but she insisted "OK, but thinking about what?" and Richard said "Death". And there you have what came out Saludos, Al Godar
Thanks, Al, for the anecdote, of which I was completely unaware. The other story I heard was that initially TGGITS was supposed to be written for piano and saxophone. Just one of many tales, I suppose.
my brother cuban, I grew up listening to Pink Floyd… One of my favorite bands of all time. I always hoped that I could see Pink Floyd together again and now this… I am speechless.
Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun. Shine on you crazy diamond. Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky. Shine on you crazy diamond. You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom, blown on the steel breeze. Come on you target for faraway laughter, come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine! You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon. Shine on you crazy diamond. Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light. Shine on you crazy diamond. Well you wore out your welcome with random precision, rode on the steel breeze. Come on you raver, you seer of visions, come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!
Asere, like you, Pink Floyd became to me one of the escape routes in my teens and twenties. They have always remained in a special place in my heart. Thanks, man.
Hello! And thanks for finding my blog and posting on it! : ) I'm returning the visit...I share your sadness in the loss of Richard Wright...I love Floyd and his contributions to songs like this were often unrecognized. Please keep in touch! : )
