Jai, you're ri...Many thanks for your feedback.

Jai, you're right about the highway as a metaphor, and I'm ready to go the whole hog. The entire song acts as a metaphor itself. That it comes at the end of what many people consider to be Springsteen's more fruitful period (Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town and The River) is no coincidence. In each record he goes from a bombastic, rock'n'roll, stadium-filler sound to a more intimate and personal one. Like this tune. I love it.

Have a nice rest of the Sunday and an enjoyable week. I shall be visiting you very soon.

Greetings from London.A Cuban In Londonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16423293358605007539noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1165773290907101242.post-49102544998351989972011-02-27T17:14:08.244+00:002011-02-27T17:14:08.244+00:00I was checking text messages from my grandchildren...I was checking text messages from my grandchildren yesterday, chuckling to myself about all of the gadgets I own. There is a metaphor in Springsteen's song. That life is a highway, a road, and we are all travelers on that road. But we never know when a traveler will be struck down, or if that means he's finished his journey.

JaiJai Joshihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04858987106548357551noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1165773290907101242.post-71744497944265630812011-02-27T15:36:50.329+00:002011-02-27T15:36:50.329+00:00I just found your blog and I'm loving it! !Aca...I just found your blog and I'm loving it! !Acabo de encontrar tu blog y me encanta!florrockerahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15953307884098686234noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1165773290907101242.post-79113964200848474782011-02-27T15:22:24.820+00:002011-02-27T15:22:24.820+00:00In this post, you have managed to combine two favo...In this post, you have managed to combine two favorites of mine: understanding writing craft and Bruce Springsteen. And I'm very happy to read your analysis and soak up your music, which is streaming as I write this.
We just can't believe that something we invest so much in - living, that is - can come to an end in a second. Even though it happens all the time to others. These reminders to keep things in proper persepctive can't come along too often - so for today, I'm appreciating the fact that I'm alive, and I'm going to put those little irritations and situations I can't do anything about in their proper place.
