As Denny moves from one life participant to another, the sadness of his knowing/not knowing and his being known/not known was so suggestive of how we live *real* lives and yet what sharpened it was that the reader knew this was about a dead man. Very interesting and thought-provoking. Yet all those things were what he should have understood himself in life. They were simple truths that he didn't see.

The most glaring thing to me was how he'd had a heartattack from being overworked but he didn't talk to anyone from his firm. None of them mattered to him really. I think that pretty much sums up why it's there. However, I must point out that not always I upload a song that is related to the post. Sometimes it happens to be a melody I am listening to as I am writing.

In this case the first line, 'Dunny arrived late at his own funeral' appeared out of nowhere and set its sleeping quarters in my head. And I just took it from there.

Thanks for your feedback.

Greetings from London.A Cuban In Londonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16423293358605007539noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1165773290907101242.post-1212938963621603922009-11-22T19:01:15.189+00:002009-11-22T19:01:15.189+00:00What an intriguing story - well done *smiling*

Dunny at his own...The presence of Peter and Paul... Dunny at his own funeral... all of the different voices and conversations and perspectives and excuses....

An interesting experiment, where one imagines they can attend their own funeral. Are those conversations and exchanges what we would hear and see, or what we would like to hear and see? It seems you addressed both sides, and everything in between. There was a sort of transcendental quiet to Dunny's presence there, almost as if he was a guest at his own funeral. But even when he returned to his coffin, it was as if he was playing dead, playing with the living, trying to tease the last bit of truth out of them, and maybe knowing that he wasn't going to succeed, after all. Maybe that's where the "... never too early to die" comes in.

This was an intriguing read, at the very least. I found myself stopping and thinking along the way, and, most importantly, questioning my own mortality and importance. When we die, what do the living do? Continue to live, I guess. And where do we go? Does it matter? A humbling thought...

Cuban, I loved this completely!

NevineNevine Sultanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08794887684860140819noreply@blogger.com
