"The Ground..."...Thanks for your comments. "The Ground..." is certainly an entertaining read but only if you have the strong will and desire to stick it out for the long run. Otherwise, forget it, you won't enjoy it. Also, you have to add on Rushdie's tendency to "meander", some very cheesy scenes and unnecessary passages. Despite the fact that I rate the book highly, you might want to question my sanity.<br /><br />One of the aspects of the book I didn't address in my review is that Rusdhie plays fast and loose with history, both of pop music and otherwise. JFK doesn't get killed in Dallas, Lennon doesn't get shot, either. This is for me a bold approach to fiction writing. Or was it 'The Satanic Verses'? Mind you this was a long time ago and I have, ahem, matured as a reader since then. And your excellent review wold certainly help me out if I do pick this one up, which I'm inclined to do. See?
